PAST FUNDRAISING EVENTS
These events were held to raise funds needed to meet the Museum’s operational expenses. We try to plan events that are fun and different with a history twist. The public is always invited, but Museum members have advance notice, so it pays to be a member! If you have any questions about past or future events, please call Cris Osier, Fundraising Manager, 906-226-3571 or email cris.osier@sbcglobal.net.
"It's in the Bag" Auction of Purses, Jewelry and Scarves
Saturday, April 25 at the Marquette Golf Club
This second annual purse auction was attended by 150 people, bidding on nearly 100 items from vintage jewelry and purses to a gift basket from Phyllis Wong, NMU’s first lady. Another gift basket was filled with goodies from the Purple Rose Theatre founded by Jeff Daniels and his wife Kathleen Treado Daniels, former Marquette resident. Debbie Stabenow also donated a purse. The Golf Club provided delicious foods and mimosas, all of which were paid for by anonymous
donors. Thank you!

LS&I Condo Tour
Thursday, September 6, 2007 at the Lakeshore Condominiums
The
transformation of this 100+ year old building was watched for over a year by
the community and curiosity was high about what was inside. This Museum event invited over 150
people to tour several of the new condominiums along with the two restaurants
in the former LS&I building in downtown Marquette.
The event was a wonderful time and guests enjoyed live music
by pianist Jennifer Huetter along with wine and hors d’oeuvres. If you would
like to know more about the history of this building, click here to read an article by Harlow’s Wooden Man editor, Rachel
Crary.
“It’s in the Bag!” Purse Auction
Saturday, April 28, 2007
at the Marquette Citadel
Who has too many purses? This event was
truly a unique opportunity to help the museum and get something wonderful at
the same time. All of the purses
were donations from community members. Attendees had the opportunity to bid silent auction style on antique
hand bags, vintage clutches and new designer purses. Governor Jennifer Granholm donated a signed purse that received
the highest bid.
Trivia Contests were held in March and April of 2007 & 2008 in
Ishpeming and Marquette. Many people joined the fun and tested their
knowledge of Marquette County and Upper Peninsula trivia. Thank you to Karl
Bohnak, Jim Koski, Scott Zerbel and Frida Waara for reading the questions, the
NMU History Organization, and to all who participated.
