| DONATING AN ITEM
The museum’s diverse collection is continuously growing thanks to a supportive community. Items need not be old; we are looking for contemporary as well as antique items, especially when they have a local story connected to them. We also collect artifacts which show our shared culture as Americans and/or residents of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Your donation will be carefully stored in the Museum for generations to come and may be used in exhibits, displays or programs which will educate, entertain and inspire interest in local history and the past. We thank you for considering donating your items to the Marquette County History Museum.
Normally, the museum does not purchase (or appraise) objects.
We are currently looking for many items from the mid-century. Here is a list of items we are specifically looking for:
Pre-1950s bicycle
Homemade Camper
Household accessories from the 1950s-1970s
Artwork and handwork
Old home movies and video tapes
Handmade, repaired or recycled tools/machines
Toys and dolls from the last 50 years
Sporting goods and team uniforms
Photographs, including unidentified family events, parades and other Social events
Product packages and tins
Clothing unique to an era, such as disco, 1960s, zoot suit
Scrapbooks, road maps, almanacs
Journals, camp logs and family histories
Please contact Curator Jo DeYoung by email deyoung-patrie@sbcglobal.net or call 906-3571 Monday-Thursday to make an appointment to donate items or if you have any questions. We are happy to come to your home to look at items too numerous or large to bring to the museum.
Your donation to the museum is tax deductible. You can use your signed gift receipt as proof of your donation.
